What's the norm for young adults in America? Go to college and hope to get a job right? Or work at fast food and retail stores for the rest of you life, while you hope to move up the ranks? Or how about getting a good plant job and spending your whole day during a job you hate?

I have gone through roughly 4-6 fast food and retail stores, slaving away for next to nothing to make someone else richer. I’ve gone to college and while loving the social aspects, only learned things that would only allow me to work for someone else. I said I was done living like that. Time to build my empire. I have three great quotes for you: “97% of people who quit too soon (or never started), are employed by the 3% who didn’t.” “Most people spend their life doing jobs they hate to make money, just to spend that money for their life back” “If you don’t follow your dreams, someone else will hire you to help build theres.” Sit there and let that marinate. We spend the most valuable years of our lives, at the will of others. I have a dream for myself and I will make it happen. It’s all about not conforming to society. Since your best friend has this nice ride and goes out a lot because he works at a plant, doesn’t mean he is living his dream. And he is not. I slave away and sacrifice to build my dream, and I know this is the best time in my life to do it. And I’m not alone. Also read: 5 Things Women Notice And Want In a Man I had an amazing opportunity to interview the CEO of Pyramid Gang Entertainment, Jahmirris Smith. He is only 21 years old, same age as me. He seen the same vision that I seen. If you have a dream, take it… now! There is never the perfect time. Imagine if Jahmirris said, “Eh, I’m not old enough, no one will take me seriously, I’ll just wait until the perfect time.” Just imagine that. Now remove Jahmirris and add yourself there. Why wait? Is it because you have bills? Excuses. Is it because you have a family? Okay, you still have time to make your dream happen. Is it because you don’t think you have a talent? Bullcrap, everyone of us has talent inside of us. Either you misdiagnosed it, denied it, or taken it for granted. Age is but a number and Jahmirris understands that. That's why need more young adults breaking away for the cycles. Striving to create their futures. If you are not where you want to be in life, that's all the motivation you need to step out, make a plan, and attack it! So, below I have the questions and answers from Jahmirris. It was a great honor to get insight from someone my age and the adversities he overcame to get where he is now. What steps did it take and how long did it take to start your business? It took many steps to starting my company as far as talking to older and more experienced record executives for advice and it took four years to start Pyramid Gang Entertainment.
What motivated you to start a business? The motivation came from watching others around me creating and studying music and having a passion for it.
Have you always wanted to own and/or become a CEO of an Entertainment and management business? At first I wanted to dance when I was younger; then after growing up watching Hip-Hop CEOs like Jay Z and Sean Combs build their crafts and make them into companies, made me want to further my career as a young entrepreneur
What would you tell anyone who wants to follow in your footsteps? Not to just focus on the music but research the music industry and how contracts and artist development works.
What genres does Pyramid Gang Ent. support? Pyramid Gang Entertainment is a multi-genre record label. we focus on Country, Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B and even Latin music.
What steps does a musician have to take to join Pyramid Gang Ent.? It takes a person that really loves and believes in themselves as well as their craft.
What would you tell others in the community as far as getting up and acting on their dreams? I would say if you really have a true dream and passion for what it is you do you then wouldn’t let any distractions or negative talk keep you from succeeding.
What adversities have you overcome to get where you are now and how? I suffered a lot of internet bullying and bashing before I came to be the young man I am today. The way I got through it all was just ignoring it all and staying focused on my future.
What do you do in your free time? In my free time, I tend to spend it with my beautiful 4 year old daughter Brylee and focus on her future.
What made you start your business now, at the age of 21? I knew after graduation, time was no longer on my side. So I made it a goal to start working on my future immediately.
What is the fuel that keeps your vision running? The fuel that keeps me running is seeing the outcome of past events that happened in the company succeed.
What sacrifices have made to start your dream? The sacrifices I made were: staying up late nights and staying home on the weekend when friends went out and had fun.

And in the industry Jahmirris is in, it takes individuals to step out on their dreams. Stop worrying about the negative things and focus on the positive things that could happen. And sacrifice comes with that. But when you’re willing to change your life to create the life you want, it’ll be worth it.
